Interview with Shaenon K. Garrity, comic artist and creator of Narbonic and Skin Horse

First – hello to all English-reading folks who stumbled upon this interview. And now, to not make introductions too long, let’s get to it.

Today Net is Nerdy presents you the very hard-working and known in the business of Internet cartoons guest. Shaenon K. Garrity publishes comedic webcomics for years. She draws, she writes and she is full of ideas… mad ideas, that is, because most of her creations have something to do with MAD SCIENCE!!! (yes, with exclamation marks, because mad science is that awesome). She’s most known as creator of Narbonic, a story of a guy who got too near certain girl dabbling in beforementioned field of science work and thus he became a technician in crazy place called Narbonic Labs. In addition to this long running and awarded project, she created kinda-sorta spin-off Li’l Mell and Skin Horse (created with Jeff C. Wells) – her ongoing comic set in the same shared universe about government project that eliminates problems caused by non-human sapients… with a team that consists of ex-military crossdressing ladies man (puns not intended, BTW), hyperinteligent dog field-team leader, zombie/Frankenstein girl bent mostly on killing everything (but otherwise symphatetic, albeit she has short attention span) and military helicopter with a brain of obnoxious nerd. Yes, you can see that this is kinda unique. In addition, Shaenon does lots of acclaimed side projects, writes about comics for Comixology and recaps X-Files in the webcomic form. It’s not surprising she has lots of interesting things to say, so, well, enjoy the interview.

Visualizing alien universe - interview with creators of Carpe Chaos

There are lots of science fiction webcomics. Some are hard s-f, some are space operas and some are just different. Many achieved high popularity and wide recognition. I assure You that Carpe Chaos is top tier example of that genre in Internet-published sequential art. But it does one thing differently – and everything else in it is affected by that one simple change in the game. In Carpe Chaos universe there are no humans. None at all. Not too many s-f comics does that (not counting the anthropomorphic animal ones – cough, furries, cough, cough – and humorous or strictly bizarre creations). The fact that the universe lacks homo sapiens make the plots, the world and its inhabitants very unique. No (human-shaped) point of reference forces You to utilize imagination even more – and the team behind Carpe Chaos is very good at it.

5 questions to... Roger Barr

If You overslept the last few months or You were completely disconnected from Internet, I've got news for You - Abobo's Big Adventure is out and it's super awesome. Really. And if You don't know what the heck it is? Ok, so ABA is a flash game which is also a NES games tribute, based on pixels from original games, but with lots of new and fun content. You play as Abobo  - mean dude from Double Dragon. His son was kidnapped and it's payback/rescue time! You will kill, decapitate, eat heads and pretty much anything else, splatter the piixelland with gore bit and... have a lots of fun with spreading humorous mayhem through several NES game lands (from Mario to Baloon Fight - recreated both visually and in the terms of gameplay mechanic) and killing lots, lots and lots of beloved NES characters.

So why You're still here? Go and play!

And when You're done, go back here and read the interview, because today we have Roger Barr, representing Team Bobo and answering some interesting questions. Enjoy!

5 questions to... Matt Ficner

I love Creepy Puppet Project. And I think everyone should - what's not to love about a show full of zombies singing and telling bad jokes (and with tutorial video on how to make realistic mucus). I'll say it out loud - it has everything the wicked freak adult child needs, really sick and awesome pack of candy. It has gore, humor, stupidness, horror, parody and bizarro spirt. And puppets, lovely, repulsing puppets. And it all comes from workshop of Matt Ficner - one man band, who works for years, with great determination, to run this strange theater. He has talent, he has enthusiasm, he has really cool attitude towards life. Oh, enough babbling, let the man himself speak - here is an exclusive interview with this incredible creator!

5 questions to... Andrés Borghi

The Black Heart is awesome game. That’s a fact (and I wrote about it in Polish when I was starting my blog). It has something for fighting games fans – intuitive MUGEN mechanics plus unique characters with large selection of amazing offensive moves (fatalities included) and individual style. It has something also for horror fans – it’s oozing the dark, heavy atmosphere and heroes of the story are a monster mash based on genre archetypes with a twist. It’s basically the best fighting game You can get for free and I wouldn’t even mind to pay some bucks for it either. And it is created mostly by one man. Andrés Borghi, Argentinean filmmaker, who also can do literally anything when it comes to multimedia and art. And he’ll tell You about creative process and influences behind his masterpiece himself.

Let’s get it started, shall we?

5 questions to... Ethan Nicolle

Hello and welcome everyone. For all new, non-polish readers – this is Net is Nerdy, the blog where I present the best and most interesting pieces of nerdy fiction available in the Internet. And I’m opening the new series of blog articles - short interviews with top artists and creators that use the World Wide Web as the platform for publication and promotion of their work. I never planned this blog as bilingual, but I’ve changed my mind. The people that I want to show in this series have fans around the world and I want to introduce them to as many readers as I can. So the interviews will be published in Polish and in English. I hope You’ll enjoy time spent here and I promise – there is much more to come.

And also, if You notice any errors or find my English sloppy at times, feel free to leave a comment about it. Nobody’s perfect, I’m certainly not, so any advice is priceless.
